Operation Zarb-e-Azb, Success story of two years

Commencement of Zarb-e-Azb, 2014

Pakistan Army constituted a full scale military offence, Zarb-e-Azb on 15 June 2014. It was the era just after the attack on Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. The main ambition of this operation was to wipe out breading grounds of militants in FATA and North Waziristan Agency (NWA). Presence of militant groups in NWA since decades was a major cause of grueling terrorism in past. Target killing, Suicide bombing, terrorist attacks and slaying by violence annihilated the tranquil environment of Pakistan.

In this operation, the defenders of Pakistan (Army soldiers) fought with the relentless faith to abolish the barbaric terrorists without any discrimination of good or bad. Admittedly, it was an arduous task to fight in the most perfidious terrains but Pakistan army proved it by targeting all militant groups with dauntlessness.

Achievements of Zarb-e -Azb

Fact sheet provided by the ISPR after two year completion of this operation is self-expository to promulgate the success of operation. Pakistan army carried out many Intelligence-based operations. Around 250 tons of explosives were seized during operation, 7000 bomb factories were shut down and 1000’s of sanctuaries of terrorists were wiped out. Furthermore, over 4000 square kilometer of land in North Waziristan was cleared up of terrorism. Pakistan army also sacrificed 1000’s of their valiant soldiers in operation and many wounded commandos made their way back as "ghazis". 

Global Commendation of Zarb-e-Azb

Operation Zarb-e-Azb in the country was seen as segment of peace by domestic and global security agencies. Many civil leaders, military and famous personalities around the globe confessed  it’s success story. US State department reported about terrorism in June 2016. They appreciated Pakistan’s effort to constraint terrorism and acknowledged Pakistan army’s exertion in eliminating terrorists and recover illegal weapons.

Then, the international researcher groups conceded a report on Global terrorism index (GTI) 2015 in which Zarb-e-Azb was stated as an operation, causing in decline in deaths of innocent locals. South Asian terrorism portal also spoke of decline in terrorist attacks after this operation. They said that fatalities of civilians from terrorist violence shrunk in number after 2015.
